DATE CHANGE - MBAH CLE and Networking Opportunity - May 3 at 7pm

MBAH is hosting a CLE and Networking event. Please join us at our next meeting so we can get caught up, and get 1 hour of CLE credit! Note: this meeting is at Fadi’s Meyerland, not Fadi’s on Westheimer. Address below. 

On Thursday, enjoy a CLE presented by Rehan Alimohammad, the first attorney of Asian descent, and the first immigration attorney, to hold the position of Chair of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors. The CLE will cover services available from the State Bar. 1 hour of credit is approved for this presentation.

Election - Candidates for MBAH Board

The candidates for the MBAH Board are listed as follows. Thank you for dedicating your time to help lead this organization.

No position was contested and as a result each of the candidates listed will automatically begin their terms at the end of the annual meeting.

The Past-President position is automatically given to the previous president to assist with transitioning of the organization. The law student representative position is vacant and will be filled by appointment by the new board.

Free Legal Workshop - Disaster Assistance Friday September 8 at 6pm

MBAH is hosting a pro bono legal workshop regarding hurricane harvey disaster relief. Presented by attorneys Ali Zakaria and Farha Ahmed. The presentation and workshop will take place this Friday September 8th at 6pm at Masjid Sabireen in Stafford (610 Brand Ln, Stafford, TX 77477). NOTE: There have been posts regarding a legal workshop Saturday Sept 9th at 2pm at Masjid Sabireen (Stafford area). There is no legal workshop at Sabireen this Saturday, so please attend the event on Friday.

However, there is a legal workshop hosted by Ali Zakaria on Saturday September 9th at 2pm at Masjid Maryam (New Territory area)

Citizenship Workshop - Saturday September 9th, 2017

Catholic Charities and MBAH are hosting a probono citizenship workshop Saturday September 9th at the Arab American Cultural Center (10555 Stancliff Rd, Houston, TX 77099)

This workshop is for those who are applying for US Citizenship and need application assistance. Help will also be available for those needing to replace documents lost in Hurricane Harvey.

Registration for those needing assistance begins at 8am.

Attorney volunteers are still needed. Prior immigration law experience is not required.

Those without experience in immigration law are asked to attend the free CLE training that runs from 9am to 10:30am.

NAML Conference October 13/14 in Chicago

MBAH is on the board of NAML and we support their efforts to connect Muslim lawyers and legal professionals interested in topics of relevance to Muslims in America.
The Muslim Bar Association of Houston is working with Catholic Charities to put on a citizenship workshop August 26, 2017. Attorney volunteers are needed.  Training will be provided.
