Mr. Khizr Khan is an attorney who immigrated to the United States with his wife and children in 1980. He attended Harvard Law School and obtained an LLM. One of his three sons, Captain Humayun Khan, served in the U.S. Army and died in combat in Iraq in 2004 while protecting his unit from a suicide bomber.
Mr. Khizr Khan spoke alongside his wife Ghazala Khan at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this year.
Mr. Khizr Khan has since been traveling across the United States to speak on topics related to the constitution, discrimination, refugee issues and the role lawyers serve in society. He's a genuine and inspiring speaker who believes in helping others and has refused speaking fees for this engagement.
This is a non-partisan event and we encourage all lawyers and law students to attend.
Special thanks to the Islamic Society of Greater Houston for facilitating Mr. Khan's travel to Houston.
This event was made possible with the generous underwriting of Nirvana Restaurant.
